Participating Government Agencies (PGA)

Customs clearance is not only about dealing with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency but also other participating government agencies. Importers need to comply with a variety of regulations and requirements from multiple agencies in order to clear their goods through customs. These agencies may include the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), among others.

Each agency has its own set of regulations and compliance requirements that importers must adhere to. For example, the FDA regulates food, drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics, while the USDA oversees the importation of animals and plants. The EPA regulates the importation of chemicals and hazardous materials, and the FWS oversees the importation of certain species of wildlife. Dealing with multiple government agencies can be a complex and time-consuming process for importers. It's important for importers to have a good understanding of the regulations of each agency and how they apply to their goods. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in delays, fines, and even seizure of goods.
